The 7th edition of the Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) in China is to screen 3 movies from Iranian cinema.
‘Abji’ directed by Marjan Ashrafizadeh, ‘The Salesman’ directed by Asghar Farhadi, and ‘A Dragon Arrives!’ directed by Mani Haqiqi will go on screen at the Chinese event which is slated to start on April 16, 2017.
To be in the running for an award, ‘Abji’ (The Sis) tells the story of two women who have lived together for more than 50 years, but things don't remain the same as the time has come for both to part ways.
To be present at the non-competition section of the event, Farhadi’s ‘The Salesman’ tells the story of a young couple named Emad (Shahab Hosseini) and Rana (Taraneh Alidoosti) who move into a new flat in the center of Tehran. But an incident linked to the previous tenant dramatically changes their life.
Iranian movie ‘The Salesman’ directed by Asghar Farhadi has won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards and double awards for Best Screenplay and Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival 2016.
Haqiqi's ‘A Dragon Arrives!’ will be screened at the non-competition section too.
The 7th BJIFF is composed of over 300 activities, such as Competition Section Tiantan Award, Opening Ceremony, Beijing Film Panorama and Theme Forum as well as other related activities such as Forward Future Section, Documentary Section and Online Film Section.
The 7th edition of the Beijing International Film Festival is scheduled to be held on April 16-23, 2017.
